Motorbike Adventure: From Chiang Dao to Chaeson National Park
The journey from Chiang Dao to Chaeson National Park was nothing short of amazing. Starting at 9 a.m., we set off with the excitement of exploring new routes and taking in the stunning mountain landscapes. This ride turned into a perfect blend of adventure, cool mountain air, and peaceful exploration.
The Ride Out of the Mountains
The road out of the mountains was far smoother than the route we took two days ago on the way up. The morning air was crisp and fresh as we navigated the twists and turns of the mountain paths. It was one of those rides where you can just lose yourself in the joy of the road and the scenery around you.
We eventually made our way to Route 107, the main highway connecting Chiang Mai and Chiang Dao. The 50 km stretch toward Chiang Mai was pleasant, with enough curves to keep the ride engaging but without being overly technical.
However, the real excitement came when we left Route 107 behind and turned onto Route 4141. This was a fantastic little backroad — quiet, winding, and lined with beautiful irrigation channels and an array of gardening shops. This rural route gave us a glimpse into the slower, peaceful way of life in Northern Thailand.
The Curves Keep Coming
Next, we made our way to Route 118, a main highway but still a blast to ride. The curves were fast, flowing, and perfectly suited for a motorbike journey. With minimal traffic and stunning mountain views, this section was an absolute highlight.
But the adventure really began when we turned onto Route 1252. This road winds its way through the heart of the mountains, and as soon as we started down it, we knew this was going to be the best part of the ride. The roads were smooth, the air was cool and refreshing, and the views were breathtaking. Lampang awaited us, complete with a stunning viewpoint offering some unforgettable scenery.
Unfortunately, as we continued, the road conditions became a bit rougher. Locals had cut through some of the curves, and the road itself became a bit dirtier. It was a reminder to stay focused, stay cautious, and enjoy the ride while always riding smart.
Entering Chaeson National Park
After leaving the mountain roads, we turned right onto Route 4329 and officially entered Chaeson National Park. This was a treat — costing 200 Baht for foreigners to enter. Once inside, you’ll find hot springs, a beautiful waterfall, spa services, and even massages to unwind from the ride.
We found a cozy little accommodation for 630 Baht in the National Park, set in a quiet, peaceful spot with almost no internet—something that felt like a blessing rather than a drawback. For me, staying overnight in a National Park in Thailand was a first, and it turned out to be a fantastic experience.
A Day of Curves and Fresh Air
By the end of the day, we’d covered 207 km and tackled 440 curves in total. The ride had been everything you could ask for—beautiful views, smooth mountain roads, and that unmistakable fresh mountain air. The kind of riding that leaves you feeling invigorated, relaxed, and already planning your next trip.
Tomorrow, the journey continues. But for now, it’s time to unwind, reflect on the day’s adventures, and enjoy the peaceful vibes of Chaeson National Park.
If you’re ever in Northern Thailand with your motorbike, this route is a must. The combination of scenery, adventure, and the freedom of exploration is truly unforgettable. Until next time!
