TH – Khon Kaen to Lom Sak
02.11.24 – Day 2 North of Thailand
After a couple of beers last night, we both slept really well.
Woke up at 7 am, had a so so breakfast (too much french fries last night so not really hungry) and we hit the road more early than the day before.
Lots of highway riding today. First south to Chaiyaphum, then west into the mountains with a short stop at the Mo Hin Khao.
Mo Hin Khao is kinda interesting for it‘s rock formations and is known as the Stonehenge of Thailand.
The ride up to Mo Hin Khao is pretty nice with some great twists. Always a pleasure to go there.
Walking around there – this pleasure we skipped as it got hot and with all the gear it is not really fun.
Finally – after 1 hr more riding – we arrived on the Hwy 12.
Hwy 12 is one of my favourite highways in Thailand. This Hwy has some parts in the mountains with really great curves and scenery.
Unfortunately this time, as it was weekend, a lot of unskilled cars on the road. We had some situations when small cars tried to overtake and not care the upcoming traffic. Use the brain and be cautious was really necessary.
Finally we arrived in Lom Sak. In Lom Sak we like to stay in the Indigo Hotel. 700 THB incl. breakfast for the night and a safe parking is a great value for the money.
Lom Sak is also a great location for some day trips around in the Phetchabun mountain area.
About finding food – not go to the big hot pot restaurant along the main highway if you are not hungry.
Happy wife with food!!
All in all a great riding day. 330 km in total.
There will be something new in this journal:
I try to do videos of the trip. Don‘t worry, they will be short and I will not talk. As I not like hearing my voice.
Let‘s start with the first one here. A bit too much 360 degrees editing. I promise I will get better!
Find the details of the trip in the link here.
Happy riding guy‘s and enjoy yourself!
