TH – Na Noi to Sung Men
08/09.11.24 – Day 8 & 9 North of Thailand.
Day 8
We took another day off. Take it easy!!!
Day 9
Back on the roads. If you have a look on our route, we went back South to Phrae and Uttaradit. All because of we have never been there and the roads on the map looking very well. Some off-road or at least unpaved roads expected, so let’s have some fun.
Start was at 8 am – very foggy in the morning.
As expected at this time of the year, the weather in the mountains was great. So the ride on route 1022 and 1163.
Had a stop at a coffee shop where we learned a lot about coffee and how coffee should really taste. Forget about Amazon, Starbucks. I never had a mild dark roast like this one.
Locally grown in the Phrae area, hand selected and roasted by hand. Delicious!!
The owners told us, they handle up to 3 tons of coffee beans like this. My respect, I could never do like this. You need a lot of patience I believe.
After the coffee break and 3 coffees for me (I needed to try many variants) I was ready to arrive in the most excited part of the todays trip.
Some off-road was expected (according to the map). Time to test the capabilities of the motorbike for the first time.
But, instead of dust we got brand new concrete. Locals told us, that 2 month before they finished the road. Well, that’s bad timing. Anyways, it was a nice ride in the mountains on rural road 4001.
Out of the mountains we arrived at the Huai Nam Ree reservoir. Awesome view. But forget about the “restaurant” or coffee shop along the road. Not good food and way too expensive for what you get. At least in my opinion.
Chong Khao Khat Dam viewpoint was the next destination.
Nice and relaxing there.
In Sung Men we found a nice resort. 450 THB per night and safe roof covered parking for the bike.
It was a great day! Almost 300 km with a lot of curves, views and a delicious coffee.
Find the details of the trip here.
Enjoy yourself guy’s!!
