EST – Tallinn

Tallinn, Estonia

21.06.24 – Day 28 solo trip to Estonia on a BMW R1150 RT

After 28 days, 6 countries (Germany, France, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia) and 4.970 km riding distance I arrived on the 20th of June 2024 at the end of the journey.
No, not really the end as I need to go back home as well and some highlights like the Tatra mountains in Poland are still on the list to visit.

But Tallinn is one of the milestones on this trip and from now on, I am on the way back home.

As at my next destination Narva, Estonia it is not easy to find an accommodation on the weekend, I will stay 3 nights in Tallinn.

Tallinn  is the capital and most populous city of Estonia. Situated on a bayin north Estonia, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland of the Baltic Sea, Tallinn has a population of about 461,000 (as of 2024) and administratively lies in the. Tallinn is the main governmental, financial, industrial, and cultural centre of Estonia. It is located 187 km (116 mi) northwest of the country’s second largest city, Tartu; however, only 80 km (50 mi) south of Helsinki, Finland, also 320 km (200 mi) west of St. Petersburg, Russia, 300 km (190 mi) north of Riga, Latvia and 380 km (240 mi) east of Stockholm, Sweden.

In 2012, Tallinn had the highest number of startup companies per person among all capitals and larger cities in Europe.

Today, I started to explore the city, especially the Old Town, as usual by walking. Exercise is appreciated.

As I am not good, respectively too lazy to remember all of the names of the visited places, I just put the photos I took today in the gallery below.

Different to Riga, Latvia the last capital city I visited here in Tallinn I have a way more relaxed and comfortable feeling.
If I would rank the three capital cities of the Baltic countries, first is Vilnius, Lithuania, then Tallinn, Estonia and last Riga, Latvia.

But enough of talking, here are today’s photos.

More than 10 km by walking today – I am getting used to that!!!

Tomorrow another day in Tallinn and then, on Sunday, I will visit the end of the free Europe and try to get as close as possible to it.

Stay tuned and enjoy yourself!!!
