Loei 2.0 – Chiang Khan to Phu Kradueng

Curtain up for a brilliant riding day and Loei at it’s finest!!!!
This day had everything – great twisty roads, awesome views and off-road passages.

After a quiet night and a so so breakfast in our “high so” accommodation we started the engine early.
Weather looks great, a cool morning and the route we planned to go promises a lot of fun.

From Chiang Khan, we traveled west on the 2195 and after a couple of kilometers turn left on the Rural road 4035.
Sometimes turn left or right to find another road leading south to Phu Ruea to the Hwy 21.

All you need to do then is to relax and enjoy the ride.

On the 21 turn left, but not for long you turn right on the Rural Rd 2002, follow the road to the south and the signs to Phu Kradueng.

Break along the road at a little Buddha.

The weather was still great for riding not too hot, not too cold with a little wind.

When you are on the Hwy 2216 and you turn left somewhere in a small village you can join a road on the backside of Phu Kradueng. This road is awesome, simply awesome. Turning into an unpaved road, easy to ride with some steep up – and downs. Only when you meet a car it’s getting dusty.

A lot of fun – I will definitely ride this road again but in the opposite direction.

Out of the mountains the hot weather hit us hard. Honestly we where lazy to continue so we stayed one night in Phu Kradueng. The town itself is nothing special and I believe that if there is no famous Phu Kradueng National Park it will be very very dead there.

Some of you might now think, did they walk up into the National Park? No, we did not!
First not the right shoes with us and second home is calling so we needed to end the trip and go back home the next day.

What a great riding day over 250 km!!! For sure one of the best routes you can go in Loei, Thailand!

Find the details of the trip in the Calimoto link.

Ride safe guy’s and enjoy yourself!!!
