North of Thailand day 16

Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son on small roads.

After 3 nights in Chiang Mai and a lot of walking there, it was really time to feel the wind when riding again.
Started early in the morning to avoid the traffic in Chiang Mai.
Cool air – even as a foreigner it was pretty cold for me.

After a couple of kilometers on the main highway I turned right to the Hwy 1013.
Then the riding fun started. Good roads, only local traffic and lots of twists.
The road passing the Doi Inthanon National Park is awesome to ride.

Lunch break – very yummy chicken steak with salad and water for 60 THB.

Mountain High Resort & Restaurant

Driving north to Mae Hong Son on the Hwy 108 is part of the “famous” Mae Hong Son loop.
Great to ride, even that it is a main road.

Arrived in the afternoon in Mae Hong Son – it was not easy to find an accomodation. Holiday weekend in Thailand.
At this time, there was a food and handycraft festival in the city. Perfect for a night walk and some delicious northern food.

Conclusion:
290 km pure fun. If you have time, if you want to avoid truck traffic on the main highway then follow my advice.
