North of Thailand day 18

Chiang Mai to Fang
My start in the morning was a bit early. The air was wet and a lot of fog. What is really a bit annoying – after a while you almost see nothing.

As always I prefered riding on small roads and I tried to avoid the Hwy 107.
Passing by Chiang Dao and almost see nothing of the mountains because of fog.
Anyways, a great ride in the country side. Many farms and small villages.

The roads there are really red like on the photos. The dirt in this area is red and after the rainy season you see exactly where the water arrived on the roads.

Out of the mountains the weather got really nice. And hot.
In the end I was happy to arrive in Fang.
Fang was founded in 641 so this town is way older than Chiang Mai what was founded in 1294.
Fang was an important trading center in the 14th and 15th century.
Now a days, Fang is a pulsating town. You get almost everything there and even that Fang is “just” an Amphoe they have a Global House there.
