North of Thailand day 5

Tak, Mae Sot, Umphang

In my feeling, today’s ride where 2.000 twists and more.
Started in the morning on Hwy 12 direction Mae Sot – with a great view on the morning fog and the mountains.

and later on Hwy 1090 up in the mountains to Umphang.

Most people travel to Umphang for trekking tours, rafting and visit the Thilocho Waterfall.
But, for motorbike riders the road up here is an eldorado.
From Mae Sot to Umphang 100 km twists. The only limit are your riding skills!

Most people think about Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai when talking about coffee and tea in Thailand.
What I found out today is, that in Umphang they grow coffee and tea as well.
In the OTOP (One Tambon One Product) shop you can try different styles.

Like this one:
1 shot dark roast espresso
1,5 spoon coco / bitter chocolate powder
Mix it and fill up with 3,5 % milk
If you like it more sweet, add sticky milk

Conclusion: perfect trip into the Mae Sot mountains. Twists, cool weather and tasty coffee.
